| | Collaboration, Digital Transformation

The COVID-19 crisis has had profound and unprecedented repercussions on the world of work. Among the many changes, the widespread adoption of remote work has been one of the most significant transformations. This rapid transition to remote work was made possible by the widespread adoption of digital tools and new methods of collaboration. Lockdown thus accelerated the digital transformation of many companies, forcing them to rethink their operating methods to adapt to this new reality.

The infographic below illustrates these trends and presents key figures that shed light on the situation:

  • At the height of the crisis, 5 million French people were working remotely.
  • 61% of companies that remained in operation during the lockdown adopted new work methods or tested new digital tools.
  • 80% of companies believe that economic recovery will depend on accelerating their digital transformation.

These statistics clearly show that the crisis served as a catalyst for change for many organizations. The need to adapt quickly to unprecedented conditions has prompted companies to adopt advanced technological solutions to maintain their productivity and competitiveness.

Telework, for example, has established itself not only as a temporary solution but also as a long-term option for many employees and companies. 71% of employees who have tried telework want to continue working remotely at least one day a week after the crisis. In addition, 55% of employees believe that telework makes their workday more efficient.

Initiatives to address the crisis also included measures such as adopting videoconferencing (32% of companies), implementing new digital tools for collaboration (61%), and improving internal processes to boost efficiency (30%).

In short, the 2020 crisis not only disrupted traditional ways of working but also paved the way for accelerated and lasting digital transformation, placing digital tools at the heart of many companies’ strategies.
